Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal tax program that rewards employers for hiring new employees from various "Targeted groups." The tax credit differs based on which group your employee is in. The tax credit has maximum amounts of up to $9,000 per qualified employee.
While most companies are already hiring from the groups, the administrative burden of applying for the credits keeps many businesses from participating.
The targeted groups currently available for screening your employees are:
  • Hurricane Katrina Residents (for hires before August 28, 2009)
  • A member of a family that is a Qualified Food Stamp Reipient
  • A member of a family that is a qualified Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) Recipient
  • Qualified Veterans
  • Qualified Ex-Felons, pardoned, paroled or work release individuals
  • Vocational Rehabilitation Referrals
  • Qualified Summer Youths
  • Qualified Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients
  • Qualified Individuals living within an Empowerment Zone, or Renewal Community
  • Resident of one of 408 designated Rural Renewal Countries
  • Long Term Family Assistance Recipient (TANF)
  • Disconnected Youth (NEW GROUP FOR 2009)
  • Unemployed Veterans (NEW GROUP FOR 2009)

The Service:
CCS will provide centralized administration. Centralized administration makes it easier to keep track of the flow of new hires, their eligibility, and certification. All paperwork flows through our offices, not yours, enabling your key employees to run your business and not be filling out forms, filing documents, and calling various government agencies.
CCS offers flexible administration. We can customize the program to fit the needs of any corporate structure. Program structure is dynamic, if your company changes we will reorganize the program to assure maximum benefit. CCS will provide thorough compliance reports delivered on your schedule tracking compliance by location, division, zone, or company wide. Tax credit reports can be issued on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis depending on your needs.
All paperwork is reviewed and followed up by senior personnel, not inexperienced clerks. Files for each new hire are maintained and updated in-house. CCS personnel follow-up with the appropriate state agencies to expedite certification (faster tax credits to you). Experienced people means:
1. Our staff, to maximize credits, obtains any missing information.
2. Every rejection by state & federal agencies is carefully reviewed. Many rejections are reversed through our direct efforts (other companies simply accept the decision of the rejecting agency). Our experience has found that a majority of rejections are based upon technicalities that can be reduced with close monitoring, attention to detail, and follow-up.
CCS's fee system is simple. Only if we obtain a certification do we get paid. There are no hidden charges for hundreds or thousands of 900 number calls and no percentage-based fees to be paid for years to come.
